Day trip from Fes to Meknes and Volubilis
OVERVIEW:
On this Meknes and Volubilis day trip, we’ll leave the cultural capital of Morocco Fes. our destination will be Meknes which is another historical city. on this day trip, we explore the imperial city of Meknes. in addition to that, we will discover the roman ruins in Morocco. Also, we will enjoy the beautiful landscapes of this region. Moreover, we will visit the small town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun.
Itinerary:
In the morning, we will meet you in your riad in Fes to start our day trip to Meknes and Volubilis. we, will drive about 1 hour to Meknes. Meknes is one of the imperial cities which used to be the capital of Morocco. The original name of the city is “Amknas” which is a Berber tribe that used to live there.
In Meknes, we will visit Bab El Mansour, Bab laKhmis, as well as Lahdim square. In addition to that, we will explore the medina of Meknes and Sehrij swani. Afterwards, we will have lunch in one of the Moroccan restaurants there.
later on, we will drive to visit Volubilis or the roman ruins in Morocco. we will explore this historical landmark with a local guide. before we head to back to Fes, we pay a visit to Moulay Idriss sacred town. It is a small town at the top of hills. The is known as the home of Moulay Idriss; the first Islamic ruler of Morocco. It is also where to discover these authentic spots along with taking some photos of Volubilis.
